new rehearsal times for 2010 – 2011
For
2010 – 2011 season we are moving the Symphony orchestra rehearsal back 30min. to start at 9:30 am instead of 9am. This allows everyone a little more sleep, especially those coming from further away on transit!
All rehearsals are at Ladner Community Centre, 4734 – 51st Street.
Capriccio Strings: 9:30 am – 10:30 am, conductor Jonathan Der
Junior String Orchestra: 12 noon – 1:30 pm, conductor James Malmberg
Intermezzi Strings: 9:30 am – 11:30 am, conductor James Malmberg
Wind Ensemble: 12:30pm – 1:45 pm, conductor Stephen Robb
Symphony Orchestra: 9:30 am – 12 noon, conductor Stephen Robb
Chamber Ensembles: 12:15am – 1:30 pm, conductor Jonathan Der

Ladner May Days
Ladner May Days Parade
To DYO players and families,
Last year, DYO missed the gaming grant and this limited our program activities. In order to promote the DYO to the community, we are going to participate in the Ladner May Days Parade. This is a chance for us let the local people and businesses know about us, and to show our appreciation for their long time support. It is also a chance for the players to join in community events.
The Ladner May Fair has been held since 1896, an event in British Columbia that attracts visitors from all over the province. The fair is held in Memorial Park, which is just across the street from the community centre. The parade route taken will be 1.5 miles across Ladner and finishes in Memorial Park.
The date of the fair and parade is Sunday, May 30th, so please mark this date as we’d like as many people to participate as possible. Parents and siblings are welcome to join as well. For more information on the Ladner May Days Fair, you can check the site at http://www.ladnermaydays.com/index.html. Details will be provided later on.

Victoria Trip
The DYO will be sending a small tour group to Victoria the weekend of July 3rd and 4th. There will be performances at Beacon Hill Park, the Provincial Legislature building and in Chemainus. There is still room for more students to sign up for this, please contact Lena or your orchestra manager to join the tour.

Victoria 2010
A notice was sent home February 13 informing players of the proposal to travel again to Victoria , leaving Friday July 2 and returning Sunday July 4.
